What does the certification process involve?

An online timed exam containing a broad spectrum of questions relating to wysiwyg

A practical assignment submission

You must achieve an average of 75% across the the exam and the practical assessment to be awarded Certified Designer status

Configuration and use of WYSIWYG cameras

Creation of plots and paperwork

Use of scenic automation within WYSIWYG

Prerequisites
Before attempting the Certified Designer you should have:

Professional experience within the lighting industry
-
150+ hours of practical experience using WYSIWYG

WYSIWYG R46 or greater (required to complete practical assignment)

CourseThis course explores advanced features of wysiwyg. Familiarize yourself with settings; patch and focus fixtures; build LED walls and add multi-media to your file; make use of wysiwyg cameras; pre-visualize lighting and other components of your show.
Frequently asked questions
Taking the Exam

When can I take the certification exam?
You can take the exam online and complete the assignment at a time to suit you so long as both parts are submitted within 30 days of enrolment.

How much time will I have to complete the exam?
You have 40 minutes to complete the wysiwyg exam. Please allocate 60 minutes for the whole process, including time needed to review the exam instructions and to read and accept the wysiwyg Certification Program Terms and Conditions. The assignment should take between 2-4 hours to complete.

Do I lose points if I answer incorrectly?
No, you don’t lose points for answering questions incorrectly.

Can I review my answers before completing the exam?
Yes. Before you complete the exam, you will have the opportunity to review your answers to all questions.

Can I take the exam again if I do not pass?
Yes. If you do not achieve a passing score on the exam the first time, you may take ONE resit exam. A period of 48 hours must lapse before retaking the same exam. The cannot be retaken. The first assignment submission is final.

How long is a wysiwyg Designer Certification valid?
The wysiwyg Designer Certification is valid for 2 years from your certification date. To maintain your certification status after 2 years, you must retake the exam.
Scoring and Results

When will I get my exam results?
You will receive notification of a pass or fail within minutes of completing your exam. The assignment is reviewed by our assessors before grading. If you pass both components, you will receive confirmation via email within 14 days.

Can I find out if I answered a specific question correctly or incorrectly?
No. In order to protect the security of our certifications, CAST does not share information about the specific questions or components that were correct or incorrect.

Can I request a reevaluation of my score?
No. Because CAST must ensure that candidates who pass exams and earn a certification have demonstrated the required proficiency level(s) across the skill domain(s), the final result of an exam or assessment cannot be changed.

Can I get a refund if I don’t pass an exam?
No. CAST does not offer refunds for exams that you do not pass or exam appointments you miss. Additionally, CAST does not provide any discount if you retake an exam.

How do I print my e-certificate when I pass the exam?
If you passed, you can print your certificate from your account, navigate to the “Certifications” tab and under “Downloads” click “PDF Certificate.”

What do I receive upon getting certified?
Once you pass your exam(s) and become certified, you will receive a digital badge and a printable digital certificate. Badges can be easily shared to social networks including LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook and other social networks and can be embedded on your website or blog.
